It's not a good idea to do tricks on your MTB if you are over 40 years old!! Yesterday, my Dad says, "Look at this, Madison" I look over and see him crash in someones driveway. He tore up this arm, probably broke his finger, and did something to his hip. So...nice trick Dad, but I don't think I will be trying that one!!

Hard To Get Going
Have you ever had one of days when you just don't feel like doing anything?? Well..that's how I felt today. We usually take a family ride, but after last weeks 3 hour disaster camping trip, I was so NOT ready to go back to Alafia! I was doing just fine watching my Fuel TV when my Mom told me to get my boody off the couch and get my bike clothes on. Not happy about it...I did what she said. And then, we were out the door and heading South.
My mood quickly changed after we arrived at the Dunedin Causeway. The water was beautiful, the breeze felt awesome, and I was so ready to get on my bike and go for a ride.
We started off on the Causeway and headed to the Pinellas Trail. |
After riding all the trails 2X at Hammock Park, we headed back to the Causeway. |
By this time, we were starving , so we picked up Subway and made our way to Honeymoon Island. |
Dad and I are practicing our new podium poses. |

I Think We Are Ready
We have been thinking about getting a dog for a couple months now. This will be our first dog, so we did a lot of research. We wanted to find a dog who would fit into our family perfectly. A dog that could go running on the trails with us, camping, and to the races. So, we decided on a Shiba Inu. If you know anything about these dogs, you probably think we are crazy for getting one. Everything we have read about them says "Not for first time dog owners". I guess they are super hard to train because they want to be the leader. Shibas are extremely smart and very stubborn. We haven't met our little guy yet, but they are said to have spunky personalities and are full of energy. If we can get him trained (which should be interesting, since we have no idea what we are doing), I think we are going to have a good little buddy and an awesome trail dog!
Here's a sneak peek at our little cutie. If everything goes OK, we will pick him up at the airport on June 1st. Right now, he's only six weeks old and lives with his mommy in Arkansas.

We knew IT was coming
We watched the news lady, we knew IT was coming. But... we decided to go on our camping trip anyway. So, we packed up and headed to Alafia. On the way, we stopped off at Boyette for an awesome 16 mile ride. After our ride, the clouds started to form and the wind started to pick up, we knew IT was coming. So, we got in the car and headed to Alafia.
As soon as we got to Alafia, we decided to set up camp before IT came. Well... thank goodness nobody was watching us put up the tent (at least I hope nobody was watching) because we looked really stupid!! It was so windy, every time my Dad tried to put a pole in, the thing would take off like a kite. So, normally he could put it up in about 15 minutes, this time I think it took him about an hour. After that, we roasted some hot dogs on the grill, ate lunch and then... IT came. Yes, when I say IT, I'm talking about the crazy thunder storms. We were stuck in the tent and had to close all of the flaps, so we wouldn't get soaked. And...the wind was so strong I thought we were going to take off, like what's her name in the Wizard of Oz. Of course, it wasn't one of those quick rains. It lasted, I don't know, about 3 hours, I guess. By that time, we were so over it...especially my Mom. We knew the trails would be a disaster, so we packed up and went home. After a hot shower and some chicken noodle soup we still camped out, only this this time it was in our living room. Good thing we went home because the crazy rains came back that night.
What do you do when you are stuck in a tent for 3 hours??... You harrass your Dad!! |

What A LONG Day!!!!
Do you remember when I told you about my science project back in February?? Well...today was the Young Scientist Fair for Pasco County. We registered for the event around 8:30, judging went on for about 2 hours, and then there was an awards ceremony at 2:30. I don't want to bore you, but it was crazy how many people were there! 364 different science projects and probably over a thousand people at the awards ceremony. Tons of really cool projects, so I'm very happy to say that I placed 2nd with the 9 year olds.
