Indian Rocks Beach

We try to go to a different beach every Sunday. This Sunday, it was Indian Rocks. I give the beach a thumbs down. There were no cool shells and too many people. Check out our volcano sand castle.

Crazy Carter

...crazy in a cool way, a holy moly way, a squeeze through the trees way, narrow ridges, up high, please don't let me fall way, steep, rooty hard to climb way, a hello water, I hope I don't see big mama way, I loved every moment way!!!

We started off on Ivy and headed over to sprinkler. From there, we made our way over to horseshoe.

Here I am at the end of Puff N' Stuff.

OK, here's the deal with Snake Ridge. I tried to make the climb 3 times. I was not able to make it up, my tire kept spinning in the sand. Since, I could not make it, my Mom and Dad would not let me ride the rest of the trail. Maybe next time.

After attempting Snake Ridge, my dad and I rode Cruddy Buddy, then over to Baby Beast.

Time for lunch. We took the West Clay Road back to the picnic tables. Had a quick lunch and headed back to the trails. We did the same course, but added The Beast at the end.

Sand Key

After the ride yesterday, my family and I decided to take it easy today. So, we headed for the beach...my second favorite thing to do. I found some really cool sponges and shells and had fun building sand castles with my sister. The water was super cold, so I didn't go swimming.

Saturday, April 18, 2009

I started the day by finishing a book called "A Week in the Woods"...pretty cool book. Then, my sister and I played in the pool for a little bit. (It was freezing!) After that, we headed to Boyette. Everyone was on the new Ridge Line trail, so we had the older trails to ourselves. I tried some different trails this time...like Gator Pit, Golf Cart, Canyon, Pandemonium, and South Abyss. I have to say, those switchbacks on Canyon were scary!!

Here's my sister on the way home after our 12 mile ride.

Hanna Rocks

...and I'm not talking about Hannah Montana!!! We left for Jacksonville on Wednesday. After a 4 hour drive, we finally arrived at the park and my sister and I were full of energy. I have raced here before, but never had the chance to check out the entire park including the beach. Before setting up camp, we put on our riding gear and headed for the trails. We started off on Switchback, then into misery. Over the next two days, we ended up riding every single trail, some 2 times and put in about 27 miles. My sister was awesome, she did all of the trails too!

Treats and watching the sunset on our first day of riding

OK....Let me tell you about this!! We decided to walk to the beach from our campsite. My Dad took us through a trail on the back side of a sand dune. At the time, we had fun running up it, but on the way down I stepped on something that looked like this. I must of had about a million little poky things in my foot, it hurt soooo bad!! After getting all those little things out, we noticed this sign. Won't do that again!

Here I am finally making a climb that I was not able to make on the first day. I can't remember what trail we were on, maybe Grunt?

Look at this cool snake my Dad found while taking down the tent. He must have spent the night with us under the tarp.

After getting lost in downtown Jacksonville, we decided to go to Ron Jon's. It was a very long drive, but it was worth it. I got some really cool stuff.

Sebastian Inlet

After a 3 1/2 hour drive, we finally arrived at Sebastian Inlet State Park. When we got there, it was too early to set up camp, so we checked out the Fishing Museum and started looking for shells.

After that, we headed over to the North side of the jetty. I saw a couple of surfers, mostly skim boarders. They were doing some pretty cool tricks on the waves. My sister and I had so much fun playing in the water and building sand castles. Later, we had a snow cone and took a walk on the pier.

It was about 4:30 and we were ready to set up camp. We had a great campsite!! There were tons of cute bunnies running around. There was even a small area behind our site that looked like a fort. I had fun climbing the trees while my Dad put the tent up. After everything was set up, we roasted weenies.

OK, I guess it was time to go on a nature walk. My sister and I were not excited about this at all!! We are bikers, not hikers!! We explored Hammock Trail. It was only 1 mile long and we actually had a great time. We saw Fiddler crabs while walking through the mangroves, that was cool. I even pretended like I was surfing a tree.

After the walk, we watched the sunset and made s'mores.

Sunday Morning:
Woke up to the birds singing and was ready for another fun day at the beach. While taking a short walk, we stopped to watch a dolphin catching his breakfast.

The waves were much bigger today.

Spring Break

Finally...SPRING BREAK!!! We are heading down to Sebastian Inlet on Saturday to check out the beach and camp there overnight. I have never been there before, so I'm really excited to see some place new. I hope to go swimming, maybe see some surfers, and explore the nature trails.
