Crazy Floods

Always wanted to live on an island, but this is NOT my idea of paradise!!

First, I wanted to start off by saying congratulations to my sister for doing such an awesome job at her  gymnastics meet yesterday. You were absolutely amazing on the bars, beam and the floor routine.  And no one would have ever believed that just after the meet you had a 102 degrees fever and throwing up. (I knew it...you did tell Mom a fib in saying you felt OK, so you could attend the meet.)  Well, sick or not, you rocked it!!
And finally,  Happy Father's Day, Dad.  Hope you had fun on our family ride and looking super racey in your brand new T6 jersey!!

Finally...a day without rain.  So, we decided to head over to Alafia  for my training ride on North Creek.  At the time, we just didn't realize it was going to take much longer than our normal 75 minutes to get there.  First, we were heading out of the neighborhood, when my Dad said "Umm, did I shut the garage??"  None of us paid any attention at the time, so we headed back to the house, only to find out that yes, Dad ...you did shut the garage.  Second, we were about 25 minutes away from the house, when my Mom says to my Dad, "Did you remember to bring Kai's leash?".  And my Dad says "No, I thought you had it."  Back to the house we went.  So, after spending an extra 60 minutes plus the normal 75 minutes to get to our destination, we were excited to be finally at Alafia.

I was feeling great and ready to see if I could beat my time on North Creek.  Going...going...going, almost to the end, and then BAM...my shoulder hit a tree and down I went.  It hurt, I cried, and then we were on our way heading home, until....I got the lecture from my Mom.  She talked about not giving up and all that other "Mom" stuff.  And she was right, so I told my Dad to turn the car around and back to Alafia we went.

I warmed up again, hit North Creek two more times.  Did I break my record?  No, but very happy with myself that I continued on with my training instead of quitting.

Moving On....

Moving on to 6th grade, that is.  Man...I hit the jackpot at the awards ceremony today.  I don't mean to brag, but hey, it's been awhile since I received any medals or trophies, so I will take what I can get!!  Of course...my most favorite would be the little trophy I was given by my PE Coach for "Athlete of the Year".

I've been keeping super busy. Still following Drew's training program and seeing great results. We've been camping a lot more and started going on our family rides again (I was really missing those).  I know training is important, but nothing beats riding with my family at a slow pace, taking time to enjoy the beautiful scenery, and Oh, picking on my Mom is always fun too (I'm pretty sure Kiki is faster than her now).  And during the week,  I'm either on the trainer or in my backyard skateboarding on my half pipe trying to master new tricks.  Well, that's about it.
