Astro Skate

I know most of my stories are about biking, but I thought it would be funny to share this one with you. (especially because everyone likes picking on my dad) I do have to say that my Dad was pretty awesome today. I give him a 3 out of 5 today on his rollerskating. I took off 1 point for falling... and another point for knocking my sister over 2 times and running over her finger.

Really, it's the wind...not a cupcake belly.

Father's Day Weekend

The weekend didn't go as we planned. We were supposed to camp at Alafia, but the weather changed that. So... after running some errands, waiting, and swimming in the rain, we decided not to camp. Later, we went to Starkey Park for a little road riding.

After our 14 mile ride... I blew up the air mattress and my sister and I camped out in living room. Not as exciting as real camping, but we had a lot of fun.

On Father's Day, we were supposed to get up super early and go to Alafia. That didn't happen! We woke up around 9:30, had breakfast with my Dad, then headed out.

When we got there, we headed towards River Loop. Then made our way to Rock Garden. I decided to try something a little more challenging. I took the harder way with my Dad. The first drop was fun, the rest of the trail was a different story!! Let's just say, I'm NOT ready for that yet!!

Taking a break after Rock Garden.

After finishing Sandy Pine, we ate lunch. Then, we celebrated Father's Day with some yummy cupcakes.

My Dad and I were on our way to ride North Creek and Bridges when it started to thunder. Instead of riding, we decided to pack up and go home. Here, we go again with the rain!!

We Did It!!!

We started from here( the Land Bridge Trail head) and made our goal of 20 miles.

Yes, I have a story on how we made our goal. It all started on a Saturday afternoon around 1:00, that's when we got there. Of course, we were the only ones at the trail head because we are the only ones that are crazy enough to ride when it's about a gazillion degrees out!! So here we are at beginning of the trail, going good so far.

The trail from the trail head to the Land Bridge was nice. A little overgrown, but very shaded.

After making our way around the horse poop and up the bridge, it was really cool being up there.

OK, enough with the pictures!! We started feeling the heat!! We had to get back into the woods where it would be cooler. We headed toward this trail. This picture was taken after we attempted riding it.

Let me tell you why......... The trail was the most boring est, HOTTEST, flattest trail ever!!! I hated it and so did my family. There was no shade what so ever. I don't even know what to compare it with. I can say it was pure torture and I will never ride it again.!!!

Yes, we look happy, but we are really not. We have got to get out of here and back to the trail head.

Time for a break, we have about 8 miles in so far.

We headed back the opposite way towards the Santos trails riding Spider Kingdom. After about 6 miles in we turned around. So, 12 miles total on the Santos trails and 8 miles of pure torture on the Land Bridge trails we met our goal of 20 miles.

How awesome is this?... taking a black berry break.

Back at the trail head, my Dad talked to some other rider. He said, next time we should park at the 49Th Ave trail head. There are supposed to be some really cool blue trails over there. Something to try next time. I think the trails are called Nails Trails. Has anyone ever heard of them?

Well, where do you ride on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30? It was way too hot to ride on the road someplace close to our house, so we decided on Morris Bridge. It takes less than an hour to get there and at least we would be riding under the trees. We ended up riding out to the bird house and back, which is about 16 miles. I wanted to ride on the trails across the street, but my Mom and Dad thought it would be too dangerous to ride on the busy road to get there. It's amazing how many miles we can knock out now that my sister is on a bigger bike. Our next goal is 20 miles. I think we are going to check out the trails by the Land Bridge next weekend. It will be fun to ride someplace new!

Trying to cool down after our ride.

I think my sister is a little worn out!
