My First Time at Boyette

Today, we decided to go to Boyette to ride. I was excited to check out some new trails. When we got there it was extremely windy and dirt was flying around everywhere. We started off on a beginner trail and ended up at Loch Ness. I had a lot of fun riding Loch Ness, it was pretty cool. Then, we headed over to Upper Loch Ness. There were a couple climbs I had trouble with. I was even scared that I would fall off the edge of the cliff. At this time for some reason I wasn't feeling it. I don't know if it was because it took us so long to get to the fun trails (my sister was going super slow today) or if I was just tired, who knows. Then, we headed to Spider Berm. My sister loved this trail and so did I. It flowed really good. We had to stop 2 times only because there was 2 big trees blocking the trail. After that, we turned around and headed back the same way we came. I really liked Boyette, but I wish it didn't take so long to get to the cool trails.

I thought I was pretty good at riding over logs until...I came across this big daddy one!!!

Dunedin Beach

I was sooo excited to have the day off of school today. My mom took my sister and I to the beach. I never thought I would have such a poopy time. When we got there, we had trouble finding where to set up. The tide was so far in there was hardly any sand to put our chairs down. After finding a spot, I decided to go looking for shells. NO shells... and the wind was blowing about a million mph. I sat in my chair, had a snack, and was happy when my Mom asked me if I was ready to go. I don't think we were even there for an hour, it's nice to be home.

Alafia

Well...this was our second time riding today. We rode River Loop earlier, but my sister was not feeling good. We had to stop about a gazillion times and it took forever to finish the trail. Anyway, it was about 5:00 in the evening and we had the park to ourselves. We started off riding Sandy Pine. Thank goodness my sister was in a good mood because the whole trail was super sandy. She had to walk her bike through some parts of the trail. While riding, we found some cow bones...pretty creepy! Of course, we had to pick them up.

After Sandy Pine, we headed over to Bridges. I rode all of Bridges this time. I had trouble making it up the 1st steep rooty climb and I did not go down the hill towards the end of the trail. (My Dad did not think I could make it back up on the other side.) Other than that, I finally finished the whole trail!!

This is the hill my Dad would not let me go down.

Sunday Morning, I woke up and was ready to ride. We cooked bacon and eggs, cleaned up, and headed for the trails. A lot different this morning, there were tons of riders here today. We played around on the mound by the bathroom, then went for a warm up ride on Sandy Pine. After that, my Dad and I decided to ride Roller Coaster. I had some problems. On the first cinder block hill I ran into a rider going slow, I slid down a drop going sideways, and at the end, I fell when my front wheel hit a big root on a turn. Other than that, I was able to make all the climbs. The trail was awesome and I can't wait to do it again.

SERC Race Gainesville

After a 2 1/2 hour drive we finally arrived in Gainesville. We stopped off on the side of the road to check out part of Hailes Trails. I think it will be awhile before I ride on the adult course, It looked a little crazy!! I practiced my course 8 times. Then, we decided to head over to San Felasco for a family ride. After our last experience, we thought we would stick with the easy trails. We had fun riding Cellon Creek and Cotton Tail... perfect trails for my sister.

After riding at San Felasco, we decided to set up camp. My sister and I checked out the animals while my Dad put the tent up. The donkeys were so cute, the hairy goat kept following me around, and let me tell you about the horse!! In the picture he looks very sweet, but don't let him fool you. Someone please help me figure this one out... I was petting him for a little bit, then I backed up into the fence, then he charged at me, took his big nose and hit me really hard on the shoulder and marched away. It really freaked me out!!

Race Day:

I did not want to get out of my sleeping bag today...it was freezing outside. Finally, I got up, put tons of clothes on, and had a little breakfast. Then, we headed to Haile's Trails. I practiced my course one time to get warmed up. I raced 6 girls this time and had to do 2 laps.
I was in the lead from start to finish.

Another Cold and Rainy Day

Well... here we go again. Camping trip #5 cancelled because of the weather. I have a race in Gainesville next weekend, so I wanted to get a little riding in today. My Dad and I decided to explore the neighborhood looking for any kind of tree roots or hills to ride on. I even laid my ripstick down on the sidewalk (pretending like it was a log) and was jumping over it on my bike. After that, I thought I would give my Dad's trainer a try. He popped in a Carmichael Training video(one of his beginner videos) and I actually was able to do the entire 35 minute video. I don't know much about cadence, but my Dad would tell me when to go fast and slow. WOW, what a crazy workout, my legs were on fire! !!
